Assorted News From Valley View

After the pipe project in our last post, we moved on to getting several loads of marl and spreading it. Our drivers have all proclaimed the road to be "much, much, much" better!

All of the rain that we've had this season has made the plants very happy. Here's one of our pineapples, which unfortunately won't ripen while we're here.

We have a sour orange (also known as Seville Orange) tree that was here when we started out. It was a sad little thing, being buried in underbrush and strangled by vines. After years of loving care it is now a very happy and fruitful tree.

The oranges are, as their name suggests, very sour - more in the lemon and lime range than the oranges we're used to. But they make great Margaritas, and a wonderful orangeade. Although our breadfruit tree is not bearing much yet, friends have given us some to roast.

Some of the trees have overdone the growing thing, doing their best to block our view of the ocean. There's only one solution to that problem.

Our friends the Jesien's (Pam was Barbara's college roommate) came to visit.

And of course the kids have come by a time or two. Some of them not so much kids anymore, and there is a new generation coming along.

Binghi and Tom have been doing some tiling, of course. Binghi has been working on the outside of the shower room wall, and Tom has been doing sections of the porch floor.

Stripey, our feral cat, has gotten very attached to our food scraps. She is here every afternoon and is now visibly pregnant. Kittens coming soon!

And of course we have a sunset for your viewing pleasure!
