Poui? What's Poui? Poui trees are a tropical tree which blooms for a few days each year in the late winter. The blooms are absolutely magnificent - we just wish they would last longer! We are fortunate to have two Poui trees, one yellow and the other pink. The yellow bloomed first the third week of March, and the pink followed the first week of April.
They do somewhat obstruct our view, but they are so pretty that we'll live with it. We did take down a lot of trees that were farther back and restored a lot of our view out to the sea.
The cats don't care about the view - just the food. Fluff has decided that she should be a house cat, but we don't agree. Ginger is mostly just into food, and still won't let us touch him.
We also have a pretty gecko that lives on the grille outside the kitchen window.
And of course we have the local goats. These two little ones are cute, but we'd really rather they didn't come over to eat our plants!
Our Lobster Claws and Yuccas are in bloom.
Our good friends Tim & Deb McGovern came for a visit. They joined Barbara in her exercise class, and we talked Deb into doing some mosaic.
Deb with Professor Binghi and her finished fish.
We made it down to the beach on a truly miserable day, but salvaged it with a visit to Mis Sonia.
Barbara got invited out to lunch with the ladies.
And we got visits from Tashay, who we have known since she was just a child, and the new generation of kids from our lane.
Binghi has continued working on the wainscot in the living room, completing a beach scene and a really fantastic dinosaur panorama.
Tom put raindrops on one of the porch columns.
Barbara put together another quilt. She says this one was well outside her comfort zone!
Food is of course great! We went for dinner at Blue Horizon, and Jeane gave us a package of conch to take home. Barbara was not too sure about the preparation of conch, so she invited Chef Binghi over to advise.
Happy hour at Tina's and of course the requisite sunset, this one from Blue Horizon.
