Back To Ithaca

We made it back north to Ithaca with no problems. Before we had left for Jamaica last fall we had started on a project to bring an old chair back to life. When our good friends Mark and Janet Mara moved to New Mexico they had to get rid of a lot of stuff that they had accumulated over their 50+ years in Ithaca. Some got sold, a lot got given away, and some was destined for the landfill.

One of the items destined for the landfill was this chair, which as you can see was in somewhat rough condition!

But Barbara fell in love with it, so it got moved down to our shop where Tom proceeded to strip it down to the bare frame. This involved removing over 1,000 upholstery tacks, nails, and miscellaneous hardware!

Then last fall we entrusted it to our friend and upholstery magician Anne Steinle, with instructions to do something amazing with it. She did, and we picked it up from her studio a few days ago.

Magical indeed! We are in love with it!

That's all for now, but we'll be posting again soon, with pictures from Barcelona! We visited Barcelona 45 years ago for two days and have wanted to go back ever since. This time we're going for a more leisurely ten days, and will probably wish it were more!
