I know we’re not in Jamaica and that is supposed to be the topic of this blog, but we are in Barcelona and that is pretty cool! We got here on Tuesday the 6thin mid afternoon after an overnight flight and checked in to out very nice AirBnB.
We quickly unpacked and went for a walk three blocks up the street to the Sagrada Familia, which we had last seen in 1978. What a difference!
We will be back for the full tour, including going up in one of the towers, tomorrow. So after a quick dinner near by we headed back to our apartment for a much needed sleep. This morning we had booked an audio tour of Casa Mila, Gaudi’s last residential work, and World Heritage site. We had only seen it from the street in our 1978 trip and were really excited to see the inside and the roof. It did not disappoint!
The restored apartment was amazing, but our favorite parts were the attic and the roof.

There are 238 catenary arches in the attic, no two the same. I was amazed to see that the ceramic bricks used to create the arches are only about 1 7/8” thick! |
The photos don’t really do either the attic or the roof justice. You really need to see them in person.
That’s all for now - it is getting late here and we have a long day tomorrow.
